Coding and Robotics – Getting your devices Ready

Device Requirements:

  • Laptop: Windows or macOS with Wi-Fi capability and administrative rights to install software.
  • iPad: Compatible with the latest version of the SPIKE Prime app and Scratch app.

Instructions:

For Laptops:

  1. LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime App:
    • Visit the LEGO Education Download Page.
    • Select the version compatible with your laptop (Windows or macOS).
    • Download and install the application following the on-screen instructions.
  2. Scratch:
    • Visit the Scratch Download Page.
    • Select the version compatible with your laptop (Windows or macOS).
    • Download and install Scratch following the on-screen instructions.
    • Alternatively, Scratch can be used directly in the web browser at https://scratch.mit.edu/ without installation.

For iPads:

  1. LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime App:
    • Go to the App Store on your iPad.
    • Search for “LEGO Education SPIKE Prime”.
    • Download and install the app.
  2. Scratch:
    • Go to the App Store on your iPad.
    • Search for “Scratch”.
    • Download and install the Scratch app.

Before the Camp:

  • Test the Applications: Once installed, please open both applications to ensure they are working correctly.
  • Charge Devices: Ensure the device is fully charged each day and bring a charger to the camp.
  • Internet Access: If the device is a laptop, ensure it can connect to Wi-Fi, as some activities may require internet access.

Additional Notes:

  • No Prior Accounts Needed: We will create any necessary accounts or provide further instructions on the first day of camp.
  • Safety and Security: We prioritize the safety and security of our students. Please ensure that your child’s device has updated antivirus software and that parental controls are set according to your preference.
