Mountain Shredders at FLL Challenge

Mountain Shredders, our team in the FLL Challenge category, consisted of eight dedicated members: Bentley, Anthony, Sidharth, Kesler, Manthon, Ryker, Spencer, and Ethan. This category is more competitive, requiring teams to complete robot challenges, an innovation project, a robot design presentation, and demonstrate the FLL Core Values.
Preparing for the Challenge
The Mountain Shredders had some returning members from last year, bringing valuable experience to the team. They began their journey by attending a scrimmage at Lake Country School, where they practiced and learned from other teams. This experience helped them refine their strategies and build confidence for the main event.
Innovation Project: An Ocean Cleanup Robot

Inspired by Project Ocean Cleanup, the team researched and built a prototype of an ocean cleanup robot. Their innovation project focused on addressing the critical issue of ocean pollution. During their presentation, the judges were impressed by their creativity, research, and problem-solving skills.
Robot Challenges and Design
The team also excelled in the robot challenges, completing as many tasks as possible in 2.5 minutes. Their robot design was efficient and well-thought-out, earning them high praise from the judges. After three successful robot runs, the Mountain Shredders were thrilled to learn they were ranked second out of 17 teams—a remarkable achievement!
Advancing to Provincials
The Mountain Shredders’ outstanding performance earned them a spot in the Provincial Championships, which will be held on March 9th in Maple Ridge, BC. This is a huge accomplishment, and the team is now busy preparing for the next stage of the competition. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and determination.
