Okanagan AI and Robotics Academy at FIRST LEGO League 2024/25

This year, the Okanagan AI and Robotics Academy in Vernon, BC, made waves at the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competitions. We proudly fielded two teams: the Vernon Explorers in the FLL Explore category (ages 6–10) and the Mountain Shredders in the FLL Challenge category (ages 10–16). Both teams demonstrated exceptional creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, bringing home awards and making Vernon proud!
About FIRST LEGO League
The FIRST LEGO League is a global robotics competition that challenges students to think like scientists and engineers. Each year, teams are given a theme to explore, and they must complete projects, design robots, and demonstrate core values such as innovation, teamwork, and inclusion. This year’s theme, SUBMERGED℠, focused on exploring the ocean and developing solutions for ocean-related challenges.
Our Teams’ Achievements
- Vernon Explorers: Won the Team Model Award at the FLL Explore event for their innovative ocean exploration station and their discovery of the Green Glowing One-Eyed Fish.
- Mountain Shredders: Ranked second out of 17 teams at the FLL Challenge event, earning a spot in the Provincial Championships in Maple Ridge, BC.
These achievements are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and creativity of our students, coaches, and supportive parents. We are incredibly proud of both teams and excited to see what they accomplish next!
